Embryo Freezing
Embryos can now be successfully frozen – we use a technique called vitrification – and stored indefinitely until you wish to transfer them to a recipient mare.
Sharjah Equine Hospital are world leaders in the vitrification of embryos, having developed many of the techniques that are currently used. Success rates following warming and transfer of vitrified embryos are equivalent to those achieved for fresh embryos, providing the embryo is vitrified at the correct time by a competent person.
We can also vitrify embryos flushed from mares outside of the hospital and store them for you. If you would like to use this service, please contact the hospital.
